nel ghetto di Varsavia, dove fucilarono mio parde;
in quella carrozza che portò via mia madre, giravano strane voci, alcuni parlavano di dicerie, ma io non ero sciocca;
nel gelo d’inverno, che si portò via il mio fratellino nella baracca e mi lasciò perle e oro per voi;

Integrity Knows No Compromise – Daily Shatzi: Thursday Theme

JGC Blog - Culture is not one thing. It's Everything.

Hello Everyone and Happy Thursday 🙂

Today I wish to talk about how important it is to stand up for yourself and what you believe in.

Starting my blog, sharing my heart’s content, trying to give inspiration, motivation and happiness to other people makes me feel good, and the simple act of writing what is on my mind and how I see the world, thrills me beyond words. This is mainly why I will keep doing it. It makes me happy.

All of my friends are supportive and happy for me, and so is my family.

However, I’ve noticed that there are people in my life, some that I even considered good friends, who disapprove of me expressing myself on some sensitive topics, like depression, or self-improvement or even happiness in general.

Apparently, expressing your opinion, or even having the ambition to do so, is unbecoming. So, in five simple points, I’m here to tell them:

  • If…

Standing Up And Standing Out – Daily Shatzi: Monday Theme

JGC Blog - Culture is not one thing. It's Everything.

Hello Everyone and Happy Monday 🙂

Let’s start the week with a little self-empowerment. Or would this be self-care? self-improvement? self-worth? I do believe it’s all of the above.

Did you ever feel like you could not leave a very bad, self-destructive situation or relationship because there was simply no better option for you out there? “Better stick with the devil you know”, they say. “It’s not that bad and it could be worse” they say. “Be happy with what you have, you don’t need anything else” they say.

As if being ambitious is a vulgarity! As if you cannot be grateful for what you have but still seek to build more for yourself!

We unfortunately live in a society that will encourage you to be successful but scorn the way you go for that success. Magazines, Talk shows, people… they all tell you to love yourself but there is…

Keep Your Arms Open – Daily Shatzi: Wednesday Theme

JGC Blog - Culture is not one thing. It's Everything.

Hello Everyone and Happy Wednesday 🙂

I know that people can be cruel. People can hurt you, people can fail you.

But I also know that keeping everyone at arm’s length is exhausting. It will leave you cold, lonely and bitter. Closing yourself from having any kind of meaningful relationship, friendship or romance is one of the worse thing you can do to in your life. It’s nothing short of self-harming.

Being constantly alone, angry or afraid of everyone around you… what kind of a tool does that take?

Striving for self-improvement does involves other people. You may not need anyone to build yourself up and get the life you always dreamed about but what is the point if you have no one to share it with?

Of course there’s bad people out there. Of course, they are men and women who will try to use you, hurt you and then…
